Mom Dot often says she doesn't have the creative yeast to do much writing. But nothing gets her creative juices flowing like when we gather round the table to celebrate one of her grand children's birthdays.
While we say happy birthday to America today, yesterday was our sweet Bethany's birthday, and though a day late, I couldn't miss the opportunity to once again have Mom Dot as my guest blogger. Here is her tribute to Bethany, aka "What I Like About You."
Like most precious gems, Bethany Allison Sims has many facets that blend into a beautiful human being, a blessing to all who know her or come into her orbit.
Just consider each trait of this beautiful young woman and you will hear an echo:
She is delicate, but strong.
She is elegant, but casual.
She is studious, but fun.
She is capricious, but committed.
She is friendly and caring, but discerning and careful.
We could go on, but you get the picture.
Bethany, with never a whine or complaint, rarely asking for help, drives to work in the dark and home in the dark. Her siblings, (both male and female), her parents, her grandmother, and even Goldie (the dog) benefit from Bethany's natural nurturing (caring) nature and (especially her younger sisters) from her generosity.
While at age 23, (24 just today), Bethany can be a model of dignity, rectitude and business acumen; when her siblings play sports (any sibling, any sport), she is a loyal and loud supporter.
We celebrate Bethany today--her kindness, her beauty, her commitment to Christ, her concern for others, her zest for life. There's just one more thing to say:
Thank you, God, for Bethany, and happy birthday.
