The Big Picture

September 2013

Night at the Museum

My friend, Missi, called and asked if we would like to come to dinner.  I told her I would check with the Captain and get back with her. Then I started thinking.

"Did you mean just Robert and me, or did you mean all of us?" I texted just to clarify--wouldn't want to surprise them with eight additional guests.
"ALL" came the reply (nowthatdoesn't happen very often).

Some of the kids were busy, but last night most of the Sims family loaded up and drove out to the country for dinner with our friends.

Scholarship Tips for Homeschoolers

Sorry I missed my post from the Scholarship Diva last Friday.  I was buried in boxes from our recent move.  I will post the info on keeping a scholarship notebook as soon as I can dig it up.

Meanwhile, this week's post is for scholarship opportunities for home schoolers.  I have a tender spot for those home school moms, since I use to be one.  It is not just one full time job, but two, mom and teacher, and it's not easy.

To all you home school moms out there, may you find the strength, inspiration and discipline you need to educate those kids.

The Happy Wives Club

Several months ago I had the privilege of being invited to write for the the Happy Wives Club website  In case you haven't heard, HWC is a perky, upbeat website about marriage divided into four categories: food, health and fitness, travel, and date nights.

I applaud founder Fawn Weaver, as she simply refuses to jump on the husband- bashing band wagon. (Others are applauding her, too, as she was recently written up in the Chicago Tribune).   Fawn looks for the positive in marriage and finds it.
